The Area

Hadrian's Wall

Hadrian's Wall is a World Heritage site. Constucted in AD 122 on the order of Emperor Hadrian, it is 73 miles long and represents the northernmost extent of the Roman Empire.

Walking

There are several footpaths, some of which can be accessed directly from the campsite.

Popular routes include the Rose Bower and Long Drop and the walk to Middleburn waterfall.

Cycling

Close to some of the best gravel cycling in the UK there are numerous trails in the forest around the site.

For the more serious cyclist, the North Pennine Cycleway (Route 68) runs close by.

Hadrian's Cycleway (Route 72) and Border Reivers (Route 10) are within a few miles.

There are also a number of organised cycling events starting in Hexham and Kielder which makes the campsite an excellent base.
